Nike, already the world's leading sneaker manufacturer, decided to delve into the skateboard scene in 1997. At first, the brand surprisingly failed to establish itself amongst the core skateboard community, and it wasn’t until 2002 when Nike introduced the ‘SB’ brand along with the SB Dunk Low that it started to gain some traction. Nike SB shoes have been a hot style in recent years, and continue to grow.

The original team included Gino Iannucci, Richard Mulder, Reese Forbes & Danny Supa and the first-ever SB release was a collection of signature dunks for the founding team riders.

In March 2005 Nike SB teamed up with Jeff Staples in what was going to be a defining moment for the SB brand. Demand was insane and there were riots as people queued up while desperately trying to get their hands on a pair. The resale price of this shoe is currently about $15000 USD.

The brand continued to evolve over the years adding more legendary skaters to their roster, including Brian Anderson, Paul Rodriguez, Stefan Janoski, Nyjah Houston, Grant Taylor, Ishod Wair and Shane Oneil.
