When it comes to skateboarding, finding the right deck size for your child is crucial. The size of the deck can greatly impact their comfort, stability, and overall enjoyment of the sport. But with so many options available, how do you know which size is the best fit for your little skater? Don't worry, we've got you covered with some helpful tips!
Consider the Age and Height of Your Child
One of the first things to consider when choosing a deck size for your child is their age and height. This helps to determine which deck to start looking for.
Our handy chart below helps you to determine their best size:
Think About Their Skill Level
Another important factor to consider is your child's skill level. Beginners may find it easier to learn on a wider deck, as it provides more stability and room for their feet. More advanced skaters, on the other hand, may prefer a narrower deck for better maneuverability and control.
Protective Gear
Getting the proper gear when first starting is essential. Skateboard specific helmets are different to your standard Bike Helmet. Check out our range to find one that best suits your kids needs.
There is a lot of falling when you're first starting - it's apart of the experience! We'd recommend a set of pads (Elbow & Knee) to get them started. We prefer the 187 however any knee pad is better than none!
Complete VS Deck?
Unless you're into skating yourself, building a board on your own is daunting! There are so many moving parts, and specific tools, that it can feel stressful.
We recommend for ease to grab a complete to start,as these come fully assembled out of the box. We offer a full range of Decks and Hardware for every skating level, for those looking to get into specific building.
If you want to go a step further our 3D Board Builder helps you to visualize your new whip. Our team can even build your board, if you want.
Finding Your Local Skatepark
Skateparks are a great way for kids to socialize while they skate! When learning, it's best to go earlier in the day when there are less crowds.
Find your local and let them get ripping!
