Professional American skater Louie Lopez developed his signature shoe with Converse last year and has proved to be a popular choice amongst skateboarders worldwide.
Louie began skating at the young age of five. By the time he was twelve his natural skateboarding abilities talents were noticed at the Am contests.
Louie was picked up some big sponsors such as Flip. At just 15 Louie has scored a major part in Flip’s 'Extremely Sorry' video in 2009. He became a recognised Pro skater at 18, scoring further success in Volcom's 'True To This' and Flip's '3' videos.
Louie was delighted with the opportunity to design and execute a signature shoe featuring his name ("L. Lopez" embossed in gold foil). In his media statement, Louie describes this surreal pride.
“As soon as I let the family know I was getting a shoe, it felt like we were all getting one. Our last name was on a shoe… that was surreal.”
Louie, working alongside with the Converse designers, crafted a silhouette based off three archived Converse footwear designs. The Chuck Taylor All-Star influenced the outsole design, an element that maximizes grip. TheOne Star CC Pro and theBreakpoint Pro are the other two Converse models that influence the design.
