Nike SB has teamed up with the cult camera brand Polaroid for this much awaited Dunk Low quickstrike. This high creative collaboration explores the unique relationship between photography and skateboarding, as well as inclusivity, and self-expression.
The Nike SB Dunk Low Pro Polaroid amps up the classic Nike SB Dunk Low adding a technicolour treatment. It has a classic all black suede upper and a clean white heal. On the outer heal is the indented shape of the instant Polaroid photo. The multicoloured swoosh is made with reflective-design materials. The swoosh uses the Polaroid distinctive rainbow spectrum brand colours. These rainbow colours also appear in custom embroidery on the toe bed near the laces. The heal of the left shoe has the Nike brand name embroidery in black. The right shoe has the Polaroid brand name embroidered also in black. The black material is light reflective and changes in the dark. The sockliner also bring in the mix of Polaroid rainbow colours and white Nike SB and Polaroid logos.
"Collaborating with the Nike SB design team has been a dream come true. We built on each other's experience and creativity to develop this iconic product connecting both of our brands' heritage. The core idea behind the design is really about light interaction. We created colour created by intersecting three basic colours from the Polaroid spectrum – red, blue and yellow" - Ignacio Germade, Polaroid Chief Design Officer
Each pair of these Dunk Low Polaroids comes with a generous seven colour-graded lace options. The tips of the laces have the Polaroid branding in white.
The first to try out the Nike SB Dunk Low Pro Polaroid were photographer and Nike SB skater Sarah Muerle, and the first openly-gay skaterboarder and fellow Nike SB teammate Brian Anderson. They took to the streets of Barcelona and captured the creativity of underrepresented communities in the skate scene. Photos from the pair shredding through Barcelona below.
"Female photographers like Sarah are just so important because she is going to inspire so many other women. Creativity is key and now it's being reinforced more than ever" - Brian Anderson
