We are proud to now stock the cult American brand The North Face. The brand has grown from its humble beginnings. The company was founded in 1968 in San Francisco as an outdoor climbing goods store. Its owners Douglas and Sue Tompkins held on to the store for two years before selling it to Kenneth "Hap" Klopp. Klopp moved the company to California. During the 1970s The North Face was predominantly known for its innovation, particularly with a line of oval tents.
The North Face has a distinctive logo. It's curved brand logo represents the Half Dome in one of America's most well known regional parks: Yosemite National Park.
During the 1990s the popularity of the brand grew from just outdoor recreation enthusiasts but amongstreetwear followers. New York rappers and graffiti artists, such as Kunle Martins AKA Earsnot wore the brand giving The North Face optimal brand exposure. New York youth embraced the high-end warm goose-down puff jackets that suited the icy cold urban winters. The Nuptse jacket was a popular 1990s model, which we have included in our collection here.
Rapper Biggie Smalls would rap about nicking one during “Dead Wrong.” Big L wore a The North Face jacket during an interview in 1997 and Method Man donned a The North Face coat for his first single.
The North Face has carried on its popularity with musicians and rappers such as A$AP Rocky, Drake, Playboi Carti, and Aitch wearing the brand.
